The following contains a record of the IFCBE Board business,
represented by the motions that have come before it and
their disposition. A record of each Board Member's voting
record is at the end of this record.
Board Business - Year 2002
Board Business - Year 2001
Motion 01-02
On November 21, 2001, Joyce Maley placed the following motion before the
IFCBE Board of Directors:
The Federation, in an effort to assist Chinook breeders and
encourage the breeding of a better purebred Chinook, provide a space on
the Federation Web site to list available and upcoming U.K.C. registered
Chinook stud dogs, to include basic comparative information on the
individual Chinook, link to the owner/agent regardless of club
affiliation, and thumb-nail side view and thumb-nail front view of the
Chinook.
The motion was seconded on November 23, 2001, by Richalene Kelsay.
A sample page was provided by Joyce Maley, and the motion was discussed.
The Board requested some adjustments be made to the content of the page,
then the motion was brought to a vote.
The vote for the motion was called for on December 15, 2001,
and concluded on December 21, 2001. The motion was defeated on
a vote of one (1) vote "for" and four (4) votes "against"..
Motion 01-01
On May 25, 2001, Joyce Maley placed the following motion before the
IFCBE Board of Directors:
The Federation provide a $20 scholarship, to Federation Breeder/Exhibitor
Members, for successful completion of the Fall session of Cornell
University's "Canine Genetics" distance learning course. To receive this
scholarship, attendees must sign up as part of the IFCBE group to take the
Fall 2001 course, be IFCBE Breeder/Exhibitor Members during the time the
course is in session, and successfully complete the course.
The motion was seconded by Richalene Kelsay on May 26, 2001.
Discussion included reviewing the details of the course, to include
who is offering this course, what the course covered, the cost,
the length fo the course, student accountability, grading system,
the cost to the Federation, exctly who would be eligible, how the
Federation would pay the funds to the member, feedback at the end
of the course and comments from people taking the course. The general
concensus was that the Federation could afford the program and that
the course appeared to have value. However, there was concern
that the course was relatively expensive and that there may not
be many serious Chinooks breeders that would be willing to take the
course at this time.
The vote for the motion was called for on June 3, 2001, and
concluded on June 6, 2001. The motion carried on a vote of
two (2) votes "for" and zero (0) votes "against".
Proposal 01-02
On April 27, 2001, Joyce Maley proposed the IFCBE add a Breeders'
Link page in the Federation site.
For those voting members that don't
already have a page, the Informtion Manager will build one for them.
For breeders that already have a page, the page will link to their
page and E-mail address. The following disclaimer will be on the
page: "The following are IFCBE member-breeders. Feel free to contact
any of them when you are looking for Chinook puppies. The IFCBE does
not in any way guarantee or certify member-breeder litters, but we
appreciate you supporting those breeders who are active IFCBE members."
Further discussion was supportive.
The Board, through unanimous consent, accepted the proposal, and,
after contacting breeder-members, implemented the new page at
http://www.chinooks.org/breeders.htm.
Proposal 01-01
On April 22, 2001, Joyce Maley proposed the IFCBE invest $95 to move
the Federation Web site to a Netfirms.com banner-free site, and purchase
and use the domain name "chinooks.org".
The proposal was supported throughout the discussion. It was discussed that
the site will
cost $70 to set up and run for the first year, and $25 to acquire the domain
name for the same period of time. It was discussed that to keep a professional
looking site, it was important to maintain a banner-free site.
The Board, through unanimous consent, accepted the proposal and
implemented it on April 27, 2001. The final cost for the first
year ended up being $85, instead of the expected $95. This was because the
first year of hosting was only $60 instead of the anticipated $70. The Federation
is now located at http://www.chinooks.org.
Board Business - Year 2000
Motion 00-2
On May 1, 2000, Joyce Maley placed the following motion before the
IFCBE Board of Directors:
That the Federation implement an educational seminar program,
and for that purpose, the Federation accept the seminar program
called Chinook Diversity Training developed by Joyce Maley and
Nancy Fishinger.
The motion was seconded and debated prior to disposition.
The vote for the motion was called for on May 9,
2000, and concluded on May 11, 2000. The motion
carried on a vote of four (4) votes "for" and
zero (0) votes "against".
Motion 00-1
On April 13, 2000, Joyce Maley placed the following
motion before the IFCBE Board of Directors:
That the Federation adopt a dues structure for the
Federation membership as follows:
Breeder/Exhibitor Members:
$50 initiation fee and $50 dues for year 1
$40 dues for year 2
$30 dues for year 3
$20 for all subsequent years, as long as continuous membership
is maintained
During this Charter Membership period, if individuals
want to pay for additional years, (2 through 4), they
will receive a $10 discount from each year they pay for.
During this Charter Membership period, for each subsequent
individual at the same address, the $50 initiation fee is
waived and the dues are 1/2 the listed amount. The $10
discount for paying multiple years up front applies on
these memberships too. The number of years cannot exceed
the number of years of the first membership.
Chinook Supporter Members:
$5 or more donation each year is appreciated.
The motion was seconded and debated prior to disposition.
The chair called for the vote on, April 20, 2000.
The chair ruled on a Point of Order, on April 24, 2000,
that suspended voting and debate continued.
The chair called for the vote on April 29, 2000, and it
concluded on April 30, 2000. The motion carried on a vote
of three (3) votes "for" and two (2) votes "against".
