Chinook Standard Course
The Federation is proud to offer an entry-level online course to
the Chinook Standard. This course is free to anyone who wants to
attend. However, for those who successfully complete the course
and want written recognition for their accomplishment, the Federation
offers a Certificate of Completion, suitable for framing, for a
$10.00 fee. Please
contact the Federation's Educational
Advisor for further information
and access to the course.
Course Information
- This is a self-paced course designed to assist people
learning the fundamentals of the Chinook Standard. From the
time you enroll, you will have 60 days to complete the course
material and the end-of-course test. Most people should be able
to finish the entire course in a few short sessions over a weekend.
Course Goal: The student will accurately identify the
characteristics of a Chinook, as described in the U.K.C.
Official Chinook Standard.
Samples of behavior. The student will:
- Identify specific characteristics for each part of the Chinook.
- Identify significant historical events in the Chinook history.
- Describe the range of acceptable characteristics, where
variation is allowed.
- Identify disqualifying faults.
Prerequisites
- This course is easiest for people with some knowledge
of the parts of a dog. However, there are no formal prerequisites
and everyone interested in the Chinook is encouraged to attend.
